Big brands have dominated shaving for decades — locking consumers into expensive cartridge refills every few weeks. There's little incentive for them to change. MeeMee was built to break that cycle.
How She Works
A razor blade is made from 85% steel and 15% chromium sharpened to about 1,000 angstroms. During use it is held at an angle of approximately 25 degrees to shave. The resistance to shaving occurs only over about the first 60 micrometers of the blade tip — the most important part of the blade.
A blade's life goes through 3 stages:
Stage 1: The blade tip is new and at peak sharpness.
Stage 2: Somewhere before the 4th shave, the initial edge is just a bit dull, but still very sharp.
Stage 3: The blade begins to get dull due to rusting and shaving gets harder. You tend to press harder to get the same close shave — increasing the chance of nicks and cuts. It's time to change the blade.
How long each blade lasts depends on use and initial sharpness — typically 4–8 shaves.
What the Razor Blade Industry Does Not Tell You
- Razor blades contain 15% chromium to make the blade look shiny and hide the rust.
- Razor blades are not all sharpened to the same sharpness.
- The dulling of razor blade edges or tips is primarily due to corrosion (rust). Preventing or minimizing corrosion will extend the life of the blade.
- Razor blades when sharpened at the factory become magnetized with a positive charge (+), which attracts rust ions (–) negative charge. Since opposites attract, the rusting begins immediately after the first use and continually gets worse. The blade is usually useless after one week and in some cases after 1 or 2 shaves.
- The energy field created by MeeMee will de-magnetize the steel to a (–) negative charge when the blade rests on the platform for at least 24 hours and after each use. This repels the rust ions and eliminates corrosion.
- The blade(s) will eventually become dull with use but will deliver many smooth shaves before you need to change the cartridge or disposable. No nicks, cuts, rash or razor burn. Some blades last over a year and in many cases much longer.
